Notices w/c 26 Sep 2022

  • “Our Plan for Our Future” has been emailed to you. Hard copies are on the notices table, and you can also read it here. Please take the time to read this letter. We welcome your input and feedback.
  • The annual Hutt / Upper Hutt Challenge is next Friday 7 October 7:30pm at Upper Hutt Bridge Club. The sign-up sheet is on the board.
  • Tuesday Teams starts in October. This is the club’s only team event so please get your team in. The event will be played face to face at the club. Members from all sessions are welcome, if you need help finding a team, please let Megan know. There will be prizes for the top junior team as well as the top overall team. The sign-up sheet is on the board.
  • Saturday Revision is on this Saturday 1st October at 10:30am in the playing room. Online bridge is on this Sunday 2nd October at 7pm.

Notices w/c 19 Sep 2022

  • With the government announcement last week that covid restrictions have relaxed mask wearing is now optional. Tea, coffee and biscuits can be enjoyed at the table.
  • Please remember to read Our Plan for Our Future. We’re keen to hear your thoughts and how you can help. Hard copies are here for those who prefer them.
  • This week we are looking for members who can help sponsor our 2023 programme. Sponsoring a series costs $150+GST. You can nominate a particular session and, if you wish, name the series. We are also seeking business sponsorship. Every sponsor will help us build a thriving future, and we would particularly appreciate our members’ help at this time. If you are able to help, please let a committee member or Megan know.

  • Hutt had a successful night of Interclub last Friday. Congratulations to Intermediate teams captained by Madeleine Askew and Neil Sargisson, and Phillip King’s Junior team. The next round of Interclub is Friday 14 October.
  • Saturday Revision is on this Saturday 24 September at 10:30am in the playing room. Online bridge is on this Sunday 25 September at 7pm.
  • Megan is on leave this Friday 23 September and the office will be closed. Monday 26 September is Queen’s Memorial Day and a one-off public holiday. The office will be closed but the bridge session will go ahead as normal.

  • Saturday revision is on this Saturday 10 September at 10:30am in the playing room. Sunday Social online bridge is on this Sunday 11 September at 7pm.
  • This Friday 9 September is the 3and1 expert session at Wellington Bridge Club. You must register by Wednesday 7 September.
  • Victoria Bridge Club is holding an Intermediate & Junior tournament this Sunday 11 September, entry fee 25 – bring your own lunch.
  • The next round of Interclub is next Friday 16 September.

  • Thank you for wearing your masks at the table, using the hand sanitiser provided and staying away from bridge if you are unwell. With the various bugs in the community including the continued presence of covid and the flu, practicing these simple measures helps us all to stay healthy.
  • Saturday revision is on this Saturday 3 September at 10:30am in the playing room. Sunday Social online bridge is on this Sunday 4 September at 7pm.
  • Wellington Bridge Club invites you to an evening of bridge with an expert on Friday 9 September. This is suitable for all levels of play. Teams of 3 players are assigned an expert to play a set with each of you.
  • The Wellington Sixes tournament is this Sunday 4 September at Wellington Bridge Club. This is a fun day with a mix of grades, each grade only plays players in their own section, so Juniors play against Juniors.
  • Victoria Bridge Club is holding an Intermediate & Junior tournament on Sunday 11 September, starting at 10am. The entry fee is $25, bring your own lunch.

  • Thank you for wearing your masks at the table, using the hand sanitiser provided and staying away from bridge if you are unwell. With the various bugs in the community including the continued presence of covid and the flu, practicing these simple measures helps us all to stay healthy and safe.
  • Megan is on leave this Friday 26 August and the office will be closed. There is no Saturday revision this Saturday 27 August. Sunday Social online bridge is on this Sunday 28 August. The cost is $5 & the start time is 7pm. All are welcome – including non-members.
  • Super Social Sunday for bridge beginners is this Sunday 28 August at Wellington Bridge Club. If you have learned this year or last year, you are invited to come along to a relaxed, fun afternoon to learn about bridge play. See the noticeboard for more details and how to register.
  • Wellington Bridge Club invites you to an evening of bridge with an expert on Friday 9 September. This is suitable for all levels of play. Teams of 3 players are assigned an expert to play a set with each of you. See the flyer on the noticeboard for more details and how to register.

  • Thank you for wearing your masks conscientiously at the table and helping to keep each other safe. With the various bugs in the community including the continued presence of covid and the flu, do remember to practice good self-hygiene, especially when you’re at the table and don’t come to bridge if you are unwell.
  • Karori Bridge Club is holding an Open tournament this Sunday 21 August and they would like some more entries. Intermediate players are welcome. The cost is $30, byo lunch.
  • The first Super Social Sunday for 2022 will be held Sunday 28 August at Wellington Bridge Club. These are organised by Wellington Regional Bridge and are for bridge beginners – players who have completed lessons this year or last year. See the noticeboard for more details.

  • Our Intermediate tournament over the weekend was great fun! We had 12 tables of players from around the region including many Hutt members. Thank you to Ryman Healthcare – our tournament sponsor; Phil Revell and Madeleine Askew – our tournament organisers; and all the bakers and helpers on the day who worked tirelessly in the kitchen and behind the bar. Thank you for supporting your club.

    We do need some substitutes for each night in case registered players are not able to play. Please let Megan know if you are available to be a sub. The dates are Thursday 4, 11 & 18 August.
  • Our Intermediate tournament, kindly sponsored by Ryman Healthcare is this Sunday 7 August. We need more pairs for the tournament to go ahead. Juniors are welcome to play. If you need a partner let Megan know. Helpers and baking on the day would also be most appreciated.

  • One of the women’s toilets was broken by a hirer over the weekend. It has an out of order sign on it and should not be used. The toilet will be fixed by our plumber at the hirer’s expense, this Wednesday afternoon.
