Notices w/c 11 April 2022

  • The committee considered the latest easing in public health controls around Covid. Because the case numbers in our region and the Hutt, in particular, are still high, and the fact that we have had several members test positive in the last few weeks, the committee has decided to retain a conservative approach.
This means that the vaccine pass is still required for the time being and face mask rules remain unchanged. Masks are still to be worn at the bridge table with no exemptions allowed yet.
Tea, coffee and biscuits are offered again but these are not to be taken to the table to consume. Members who wish to keep their mask on the whole time can then stay safely at the table while those who are comfortable with removing their masks to take tea can do so at the back of the room. Similarly, water should be consumed away from the table.
  • Congratulations to our Interclub teams who had wins last Friday night: Intermediate teams captained by Elaine Richardson, Madeleine Askew and Kathryn Badcock, and to Phillip King’s Junior team. Round 3 is on Friday 13 May.
  • This weekend is Easter and a holiday from bridge on both Good Friday and Easter Monday. Also taking a break is Saturday revision, our social Sunday Real Bridge session and the Monday night lessons. Have a great long weekend.
  • It is not too late to sign up for the 3A Mixed Sex Pairs tournament which will be held via the RealBridge platform on Easter Monday 18 April. The cost to enter is $25. Entries close this Thursday at 9am.
