Loveblock New Zealand Wide Pairs on Friday
We had eight tables and five clubs competing: Upper Hutt, Wellington, Victoria, Waiheke, and Hutt. The top pair were Kahu and Kim Livingstone, 111 places. -
Labour Day Bridge–Monday, 27 October
Everyone is welcome to come along! Please organise a partner to play or contact Ruth by email or phone if you need help finding one. Please bring a plate of food to share for afternoon tea, and there will be a cash bar available - Thanks to all members who sponsor a series. Your support makes a meaningful difference and truly helps the club in a big way.

On Saturday, we had our Fun Social tournament to encourage Juniors and Novices to play in a tournament setting, and what a lovely afternoon it was. Thanks, of course, to AJ (director), Doug (barman and chef), Ruth (getting the day ready), and all the players who entered - we all had a great time.
Prizes were presented by Robyn Fisher, whose Dad (the late Ron Fisher) is the benefactor of the Trust that supports our club's junior members.
And the results were:
* Best novice pair: Karen Grandy & Jane Moginie
* Best junior pair: Margaret Gallaher & Mel Rowe
* Top mixed pair (with a novice): Eve Athersuch & Christine Chowchurech
* Top mixed pair (with a junior): Stephanie Grummitt & Simon Webber
* Overall winners (juniors): Sam Macdonald & David Haines -
For those of you who have not yet entered. In the Loveblock NZ Wide Pairs, you can still enter.
The Loveblock Pair is an event played at various clubs throughout NZ. And you received a booklet with a commentary on each of the hands. Cost is $15. - Congratulations to the lotto winner Ian Possenniskie, lucky number 4.

- Well DONE, HUTT, for winning the Hutt vs Upper Hutt Challenge, it was a fun night of bridge.
- Congratulations to Simon Webber and Stephanie Grummitt, who were the top intermediate and junior pair and 4th overall at the Kapi Mana Multigrade Tournament. Also, congratulations to Tani Blackburn and Martyn Hartigan were the top open and junior pair, and 5th overall.
- Fun Social In–House Tournament, Saturday, October 11, at 1 pm. This is a multi-grade event and a great Tournament Taster! All members are welcome, from novices to open players. Juniors and Novices are free, $10 for all other players, which includes nibbles and a complimentary drink. Sign-up sheet on the noticeboard.
- Loveblock NZ Wide Pairs are on Friday, the 17th of October, please enter on the noticeboard.
- Congratulations to the following teams on their wins at Interclub on Friday night: open restricted, captained by David Haines, intermediate team captained by Trish Mahoney, junior team captained by Margaret Gallagher and the novice team captained by Stephanie Grummitt. In the open restricted grade, our other two Hutt teams, captained by Jeffry Craanen and Walt Davis, had a draw. Even with one round to go, it’s early congratulations to Jeffry’s team on winning the grade, as no team can match their score in the final round on 31 October. Well done!

- We’re sorry, but the Prostate Cancer Fundraiser planned for Wednesday, 1st October has been cancelled. We hope to run this event again next year.
