Monday Night Teams Ladder sticky icon

Monday nights 7 – 10pm: 16, 23, 30 Sep & 7, 14, 21 Oct

Objective
• To familiarise players with teams play, from scoring to tactics, and to improve
everyone’s bridge play.

Format
• One match per session of 16 boards
• Discussion covering any aspects from play during the session.
• First session randomly drawn, then teams will be graded to form a ranking based on their score.

Target audience
• Juniors who want to improve knowledge and play.
• Intermediate/Open players who want to improve and expand on their methods and tactics as well as their general play.

Teams
• Get a full team and determine a captain.
• Captain will be responsible to make sure everyone turns up.
• Substitutes may be found in exceptional circumstances.
• Table money = $10 per person, per session

How to enter

    Monday Night Teams Ladder is coming up! This is a six-week development series led by Vil Gravis. It is open to all players keen to improve their game. Get your team together for this series beginning on September 16 and running till Labour Weekend. More info on the noticeboard or on the Club’s Facebook page.
  • Tuesday Teams are coming up on the 1st of October. You must enter to play, so please enter on the noticeboard.

  • Congratulations to Russell Dive and Partner for winning the Kairangi Multi grade on Sunday.
  • Hutt Intermediate tournament on Saturday was a great success. 13 tables, an excellent director/scorer team of Colin Hayward and Chris Jared, delicious and abundant food. Thanks to everyone who helped make this happen - especially to Ruth as chief organiser.

    Winners on the day were Eleisha Hawkins (Hutt) and Walt Davis (Wellington), with Denise Barnett and Wayne Stechman (Wellington) second, and Candice Ng and Ian Posseniskie (Hutt) third. Congratulations especially to our Hutt players who made the top three!

  • Have you noticed that our building facade is looking much better?? Thanks very much to Paul Badcock who did the water blasting. Brian Ross from upstairs is doing his shortly, giving our building the facelift it so badly needs!

  • Interclub results
    Congratulations to the following teams that had wins on Friday night:
    Open restricted captained by Jeffry Craanen
    Intermediate teams captained by Angela Banks and Trish Mahoney
    Junior teams captained by Margaret Carter and Toni Kane
    After six rounds, the teams captained by Jeffry and Margaret are sitting in first place, with three rounds to go. Next round is on Friday 13 September.
  • We have our Intermediate Tournament on Saturday August 31st.
    At the moment, we have 8 tables. We would love more entries, so why not enter and have a great day of bridge?

  • The Fundraising Raffle has been successfully relaunched with nearly everyone renewing their support. It is an important source of income which helps us keep the club going. Two numbers are available–numbers 37 and 21 - you can take a number for four weeks ($20), 3 months ($65) or longer. Please let Ruth know if you can help us by taking a number.

  • Interclub – congratulations to Hutt 1 (Craanen) in the Open Restricted section; Hutt 2 (Banks) and Hutt 3 (Mahoney) in the Intermediate section; and Hutt 2 (Carter) in the Junior section for their wins in Round 5 which was played on Friday night. Hutt teams are now sitting on top in the Open Restricted and the tables. GO HUTT!
  • Congratulations to AJ and Jeffry Craanen who were 3rd overall in the Karori Intermediate Pairs tournament and to Doug O’Halloran and Kathryn Badcock and AJ and Jeffrey Craanen who won session prizes. GO HUTT!
  • Congratulations to the Hutt team who played in last week’s regional club champs (Gravis and Dive, Stallinger and Badcock, Askew and Loader, and Haines and Haines. An incorrect score was identified last week. As a result, Hutt and Karori have been placed as joint winners in the event. GO HUTT!
