Notices w/c 3 Feb 2025

  • We are having a pizza night; it is a fun night of bridge where you can ask questions and play with an experienced player. All Wednesday night players and anyone else who thinks they might benefit are welcome to come along. Date 14 February, start time 6pm with Pizzas followed by bridge. Table money is $10.
  • Save the date for our multi-grade tournament the 2nd of March.
  • Lessons start on Monday 24 February 7pm. Most of those who join our lessons already know people who play at the Club so please let your friends/neighbours/associates know. The first three lessons are free so they can try before they buy.
  • The Tuesday night Swiss Pairs start Tuesday 4th March - you need to register for this series please sign up on the notice board. If you would like to play and want a partner, please let Ruth.
  • Revision is on this Saturday with AJ (revision is $10).

  • There are still a few programme books in the foyer. Please check their addresses and, if they are near where you live, please can you deliver them.
  • Reminder: If you spot any errors in your programme book (we do our best, but there are always a few!), please email Ruth with the details this month. Next month, we will issue a small error summary sheet so that you can correct all your books.

  • CLUB CHRISTMAS PARTY - SUNDAY 8 DECEMBER - 1.45 FOR 2.00 PM BRIDGE, 4.30 FOR THE UNVEILING OF OUR NEW SIGN FOLLOWED BY OUR CLUB PRIZEGIVING. Club prizegiving will celebrate members’ success at the Club and in the Region. Come one, come all!

  • By now you should have your programme book. If you see programme books in the foyer which belong to your bridge buddies,or to people in your locality, please can you deliver them.

  • Saturday’s work bee was a great success - 21 members - many hands did make light work! We scrubbed, sanded, painted, weeded, dug, water blasted, concreted, defrosted, and disposed of unneeded and broken stuff. A big thank you to all those who helped.

  • Congratulations to AJ and Ian Pronk who were the 1st Intermediate/Junior Pair in the Kapi Mana Multi Grade and 2nd overall.
  • The NZ wide LoveBlock pairs was played on Friday night. Across the nation, Deidre Stallinger and Jeffrey Crannen got Hutt’s best score and a placing of 56th in a field of 915 players, whilst Lynne Bruce and Vil Gravis got the top score in the Club heat (there is a difference as only 24 boards of the 27 we played are counted, and results are pooled and rescored accordingly). Congratulations to both pairs. Congratulations also to Stephanie Grummit and Anne Harland who recently graduated from lessons. They were 803rd nationwide, ahead of over 100 other pairs. Well done you newbies!
  • Club Working Bee - this coming Saturday 23rd November at 10am. We need as many of you as possible to pitch in and help. There’s plenty of work to do inside and out, so you can choose where you’d like to help. Starting at 10am, with morning tea provided. Let’s all take pride in our club and ensure it stays a welcoming space for everyone. See you there!
  • Keep Sunday 8th December free. This is the date of our end-of-year Christmas function. The afternoon starts with the unveiling of our new club signage followed by bridge then prize-giving and afternoon tea at 5pm.

  • The Loveblock NZ Wide Pairs is on Friday 15 November, the cost is $15 which includes a booklet detailing all the hands. We would love more entries, please sign up on the noticeboard or let Ruth know you would like to play.
