  • Our Swiss Pairs event is coming up! Three Thursday evenings from Thursday August 8. Open to players from all sessions. You must enter with a partner – please put your names on the sheet on the noticeboard.
  • Interclub – congratulations to Hutt 1 (Craanen) in the Open Restricted section; Hutt 2 (Banks) and Hutt 3 (Mahoney) in the Intermediate section; and Hutt 2 (Carter) in the Junior section for their wins in Round 5 which was played on Friday night. Hutt teams are now sitting on top in the Open Restricted and the tables. GO HUTT!
  • Congratulations to AJ and Jeffry Craanen who were 3rd overall in the Karori Intermediate Pairs tournament and to Doug O’Halloran and Kathryn Badcock and AJ and Jeffrey Craanen who won session prizes. GO HUTT!
  • Congratulations to the Hutt team who played in last week’s regional club champs (Gravis and Dive, Stallinger and Badcock, Askew and Loader, and Haines and Haines. An incorrect score was identified last week. As a result, Hutt and Karori have been placed as joint winners in the event. GO HUTT!
  • Congratulations to AJ who is running 9th in New Zealand Bridge Local Master rankings for 2024.
  • Congratulations to Genevieve Pronk who for running 18th in the New Zealand Bridge Certificate of Proficiency rankings for 2024.
  • Congratulations to Mel Rowe who running 4th in the New Zealand Bridge Novice Grade rankings for 2024.

  • Quiz night was fantastic. We raised $1200 - If you did not come along, you missed a real treat. This was a fundraising event and it was great to see everyone there. The winning teams were 1st Ralph and Diana Robershawes team Bob’s Crew and 2nd were The Sunbathers, Evan and Judy Voyce, Jill and Grant Herman and Ren Davies.
    A very big thank you to our Quiz Master Toni Kane, our helpers Paul Badcock and Ruth Brucker and everyone who donated prises to make this such a fun evening.
  • It was a pleasure to host Sunday's regional club championships. Karori Bridge Club was the winning team with the Hutt in SECOND PLACE – less than one point behind the winners. Special congratulations to Vil Gravis and Russell Dive who were 2nd in the open section; Marion Loader and Madeleine Askew who were 2nd in the intermediate section. Also to club member Johnny West who we “lent” to the Otaki team- he and Claudia Duncan won the restricted open section. These events don’t run by themselves- a big thank you to Ruth Brucker, the mastermind of the event, and to all who helped – Cecelia Henderson, Paul and Kathryn Badcock, Madeleine Askew, Frances McIver and Jill Marsden.

  • Next Sunday, 14 July, the Club is hosting the Wellington regional club champs with? Teams entered so far.
    The Committee is proud to announce the Hutt team - Russell Dive and Vil Gravis (Open), Deidre Stallinger and Paul Badcock (Restricted Open), Marian Loader and Madeleine Askew (Intermediate) and David and Lesley Haines (Junior) - who were selected based on availability, form, and established partnerships. Go Hutt!

  • Matariki Bridge - this Friday at 12.45 for 1 pm. We will begin by acknowledging the Maori New Year and the rising of the Matariki constellation, followed by an afternoon of bridge and shared kai. Please bring a plate. ALL WELCOME
  • At Interclub on Friday night, four of our seven teams had wins. Congratulations to the Open restricted team captained by David Haines, Intermediate teams captained by Trish Mahoney and Jill Marsden, and Junior team captained by Margaret Carter. The next round is on Friday, 17 July, and Quiz Night on Friday, 12 July. SAVE THE DATE. We would love you to donate something for prizes as we have done in the past. Thank you.

  • King’s Birthday Bridge Event
    The Club is open for a special session of bridge during the upcoming public holiday next week – the King’s Birthday Pairs is being held at 1 pm on the afternoon of Monday 3 June. Come along to celebrate things royal by having the day off to play more bridge. It’s going to be a fun day so wear your best regalia – think crowns, jewels, furs, medals, sashes, or red, white and blue clothing. There will be prizes and novelties and lots of laughs. Best to organise a partner beforehand but, if you decide on the day to play, just come along in good time and we will sort it out. The bar will be open and please bring a plate for a shared high tea.
