Notices w/c 14 March 2022

  • With the move to Traffic Light Red – Phase 3, there is an increased emphasis on self-management including a narrowing of the definition of close contacts. Please continue to wear your masks at all times when in the building, except when drinking water away from the table and ensure to wear them correctly. With ever-increasing case numbers it is important that we all cooperate with requirements and act responsibly.

  • Saturday Revision is on this Saturday at 10:30am in the playing room.
  • The lesson next week Monday 21 March is “Responder’s Limit Bids.” All members are welcome to attend. The lesson starts at 7:15pm.

The committee has agreed to keep the club open for the time being and see how it goes. Please continue to wear your masks and practice good self-hygiene.
  • Just a reminder the Kelson Pairs starting Tuesday 8 March will be played online via Real Bridge. Here is the link for the first session KelsonPairsOne. The Director for this series is Nebojsa Djorovic. Play will start at 7:30pm. Please be logged in by 7:15pm. Payment for this event is $5 and is payable by Direct Debit (DD). If you are not already signed up for DDs and wish to play, please complete a DD form.

  • The lesson next week Monday 14 March is “1-Level Opening Bids.” All members are welcome to attend. The lesson starts at 7:15pm.

  • With the move to Traffic Light Red – Phase 3, there is an increased emphasis on self-management including a narrowing of the definition of close contacts. The committee has agreed to keep the club open for the time being and see how it goes. We still need to get ready for playing bridge online if we need to close the club for face-to-face bridge. Playing club bridge online will keep us in practice, involved and connected. Masterpoints will be awarded and results available on our website. The cost will be $5 and is payable by direct debit. Direct debit forms are available in a folder on the notices table.
  • Tuesday Swiss Pairs starting 8 March has been postponed. This will now be run as a normal pairs event called the Kelson Pairs but it will be run online via RealBridge. Payment is $5 payable by direct debit. If you are not set up for direct debit please complete a form and return it to the office.
  • Saturday Revision is on this Saturday at 10:30am in the playing room.
  • This year Interclub will be run online via Real Bridge. This is the last week to enter your team. Please have your entries to Megan by Thursday.
  • Our bridge lessons start next Monday 7 March at 7:15pm. The cost for lessons this year is $100 which includes membership with the club for the remainder of the year. Tell your family and friends.
  • Improver lessons start Monday 7 March subject to numbers. The cost is $100. The teacher for this course is Kathryn Badcock.

Notices w/c 21 February 2022

  • With the move to Traffic Light Red – Phase 2, the committee has increased or changed some of the requirements for playing bridge for safety reasons. Mask wearing continues to be compulsory for all players and the Director. From Monday 21 Feb, plastic shields are not acceptable as there is a lot of air space around them. Also, mask wearing exemptions are not accepted during Red – Phase 2. There will be no tea, coffee or biscuits provided. Water is to be consumed away from the table. This is so the masks stay on as much as possible. You must have a vaccine pass to play. Please get your booster shot. Please do not come to bridge if you are unwell. Scan in using the QR code or paper system provided in the foyer. Consider bringing your own pen and water bottle and wash or sanitise your hands regularly.
  • Congratulations to Neil Sargisson who has been awarded the rank of Local Master.
  • Unfortunately our first tournament for 2022 – the Hutt Multigrade which was to be on Sunday 27 February has been cancelled.

Please show Megan or a playing committee member if yours hasn’t been sighted yet. If you have not had your booster shot yet and your last vaccine was four or more months ago, then this would be a good time to get it. Mask wearing is compulsory. You must scan in using the QR code and please carefully observe the usual hygiene requirements.
  • Our first tournament of the year is the Hutt Multigrade on Sunday 27 February. Thank you to our sponsor Gee & Hickton for supporting this popular tournament once again. Please do consider playing with somebody from another grade, particularly a junior or new player. If you are not playing we do require some helpers on the day. Commitment would be 1-2 hours only, and of course we would like some baking. There is a sheet on the notices table.

Please show Megan or a playing committee member if yours hasn’t been sighted yet. If you have not had your booster shot yet and your last vaccine was four or more months ago, then this would be a good time to get it. Mask wearing is compulsory. You must scan in using the QR code and please carefully observe the usual hygiene requirements. There are no supper breaks. Tea, coffee, water and biscuits are to be consumed away from the playing tables. This is best done when you are at a phantom table, dummy or during some other long gap due to slow play. You must keep an eye on the play in the room in order to get back in time for the next board/move.
  • Our first tournament of the year is the Hutt Multigrade on Sunday 27 February. Please sign up on the noticeboard or enter online.

Please show Megan or a playing committee member if yours hasn’t been sighted yet. If you have not had your booster shot yet and your last vaccine was four or more months ago, then this would be a good time to get it. Mask wearing is highly recommended and will be compulsory from next week. You must scan in using the QR code and please carefully observe the usual hygiene requirements. The Committee is meeting this week and more information on operating the Club during “red” will be sent out to all members on Friday.
