Notices w/c 8 August 2022
- Our Intermediate tournament over the weekend was great fun! We had 12 tables of players from around the region including many Hutt members. Thank you to Ryman Healthcare – our tournament sponsor; Phil Revell and Madeleine Askew – our tournament organisers; and all the bakers and helpers on the day who worked tirelessly in the kitchen and behind the bar. Thank you for supporting your club.

- Karori Bridge Club is holding an open tournament Sunday 21 August. The cost is $30, byo lunch.
- Super Social Sundays are back! These are run by Wellington Regional Bridge and are for bridge beginners - players who have completed lessons this year or last year. The first one is Sunday 28 August at Wellington Bridge Club. See the flyer with more details on the noticeboard.

We do need some substitutes for each night in case registered players are not able to play. Please let Megan know if you are available to be a sub. The dates are Thursday 4, 11 & 18 August. - Our Intermediate tournament, kindly sponsored by Ryman Healthcare is this Sunday 7 August. We need more pairs for the tournament to go ahead. Juniors are welcome to play. If you need a partner let Megan know. Helpers and baking on the day would also be most appreciated.

- One of the women’s toilets was broken by a hirer over the weekend. It has an out of order sign on it and should not be used. The toilet will be fixed by our plumber at the hirer’s expense, this Wednesday afternoon.

There are still a significant number of new daily cases in the Hutt Valley and masks are proving themselves as a safe way to play face to face. Please don’t come to bridge if you are unwell and practice good hygiene while at the club. Use the hand sanitiser provided regularly. Please continue to take your tea, coffee and water away from the table so that when in close proximity at the table, all are wearing masks.

- Our Intermediate tournament which is kindly sponsored by Ryman Healthcare is on Sunday 7 August. The sign-up sheet is on the wall. Some baking would be most appreciated and if you’re not playing some helpers are required also. The commitment would be 1-2 hours. There is a form on the notices table.
- Thursday: Thursday Swiss Pairs starting 4 August will now run online. You will need to play all three sessions. The sign-up sheet is on the wall.
- Friday: This Friday is a mix ‘n mingle session. Members are encouraged to play with someone different. All are welcome.

- Our Quiz night last Friday was most successful with 9 teams attending! Thank you to AJ for his services as MC and Madeleine Askew and Phil Revell for their work in the kitchen and on the bar. Congratulations to Solemates who came 1st. Rob’s Mob who came 2nd and in 3rd place the Kerpplopusses. This fundraiser raised over $800 for the club.

- Wellington Bridge Club are holding lessons for school children aged 10 years and over these July school holidays. Lessons are from 10:30am to 3:00pm Monday 11 to Friday 15 July and the cost is $5 per lesson. See the noticeboard for more details.
- Karori Bridge Club is holding an Intermediate tournament this Sunday 17 July. Currently they have very few pairs entered. Sign up online or on the noticeboard.
- Megan is on leave this Friday 15 July for a week, returning Monday 25 July. The office will be open for limited hours next week, Monday, Wednesday and Friday.

Please write your name on the raffle and take the butt. More donations for raffles and prizes are needed and would be most appreciated. Please place these in the basket in the foyer.

- The committee are continually reviewing the numbers of daily cases of Covid in the Hutt Valley and as they remain significant, masks are still to be worn and mask exemptions are not accepted. Please take your tea, coffee and water away from the table, so that when in close proximity at the table, all are wearing masks. Please do not come to bridge if you are unwell.
- Congratulations to Russell Dive and Nelson Procter who were in the “standby” team at the Wellington Region Teams event over the weekend and placed 3rd out of 18 teams. In addition they received the 2nd highest datum of the 36 pairs.

- This Wednesday 29 June is a mix ‘n mingle session and graduation night for our learners. All members are welcome. Please come along to congratulate the graduates and support the club.

- Round 4 of Interclub was played last Friday 10 June. Congratulations to our Intermediate teams captained by Elaine Richardson (currently sitting in top place) and Neil Sargisson, and junior teams captained by Phillip King and Louise Clendon on their wins. The next Interclub match is Friday 15 July.
- Saturday revision is on this Saturday 18 June at 10:30am in the playing room.
