  • Due to filming of a television series in the area the club will be closed and there will be no bridge this Thursday 26 November and Friday 27 November.
  • The 2021 programme book has arrived and is in a named envelope in the foyer for you to pick up.
  • There is no Saturday revision class this Saturday 28 November.

Notices w/c 16 November 2020

  • Due to filming of a television series in the area the club will be closed and there will be no bridge on Thursday 26 November and Friday 27 November.
  • A Health and Safety Announcement: Recent developments and announcements about COVID-19 community cases remind us that it is important that we as individuals and as a club remain vigilant about observing the now familiar health and hygiene requirements. These include not coming to bridge if you are unwell, keeping up the hand washing, using the sanitiser provided and scanning the QR code to help with contact tracing.
  • Hutt had a successful evening at Interclub last Friday night. Congratulations to the following teams on their wins: Open Restricted captained by Phil Revell; Intermediate 2 and 4 captained by Simon Webber and Jill Herman; and Junior 2 and 3 captained by Jackie Upchurch and Neil Sargisson. It is wonderful to see our Open Restricted team in second place and these two Junior teams in first and second.
  • Saturday revision class is on this Saturday 20 November in the playing room.

  • A Health and Safety Announcement: Recent developments and announcements about COVID-19 community cases remind us that it is important that we as individuals and as a club remain vigilant about observing the now familiar health and hygiene requirements. These include not coming to bridge if you are unwell, keeping up the hand washing, using the sanitiser provided and scanning the QR code to help with contact tracing.
  • The Quiz night held Friday 6 November was a lovely evening and successful fundraiser with much fun had. Thank you to everyone who donated prizes and to AJ for being MC extraordinaire, Phil Revell, Madeleine Askew & Raewyn Dowman for their work in the kitchen and on the bar. Congratulations to Body & Sole who came first, Over The Hill who came second and The Poodles who were third.

SUCCESSFUL GRANT APPLICATION

It gives us great pleasure to tell you that the club has been successful with a recent grant application. A huge thank you to Hutt Mana Charitable Trust who have given the club a grant of $2,902.34 for the purchase of computer equipment. The new computer equipment will improve the smooth running of bridge operations and back office management.

  • The very popular Hutt Quiz night is back, Friday 6 November 7pm. There are two sign up forms on the wall, one to join a team and one if you already have a team. Donations of wine, chocolates and goodies would be much appreciated. These can be left in the box in the foyer. Please support this fundraiser. It is going to be a fun night!
  • The Babich NZ Wide Pairs are on Friday 30 October. Venues are Upper Hutt or Wellington.
  • The lessons resulted in 24 new members graduating last Wednesday night. Big thanks to A.J. and his team of helpers and buddies plus Raewyn and the playing committee on the night. Please welcome these new players as they start to play at club sessions and understand that they are allowed to consult their system cards during play for the time being.
  • There is no Saturday revision class this Saturday 31 October.

  • It is with sadness that we announce the sudden passing of our member Geoff Sparrow. Geoff played mainly on a Wednesday night. Our thoughts are with his wife Alison who is also a member.
  • An enjoyable night of Interclub was had last Friday 16 October. Congratulations to the Hutt 4 intermediate team captained by Jill Herman, and our three junior teams captained by Joan Finley, Jackie Upchurch and Neil Sargisson on their wins. See the noticeboard for more detailed results.

  • At the annual Upper Hutt / Hutt challenge on Friday night, Hutt put in a great effort but congratulations go to Upper Hutt who won the most percentage points and claimed the Challenge Cup. Congratulations to Vil Gravis and Lynne Bruce who came first overall.

  • Next week Tuesday 13 October the carpark lines will be water blasted in preparation for the repainting of the lines on Wednesday 14 October (weather permitting). Please be aware when parking your car on Tuesday night that there may be very little left to see of the lines following the water blasting.

  • It is great news that we have returned to Alert Level 1. However, it is important that we as individuals and as a club remain vigilant about observing the now familiar health and hygiene requirements. These include not coming to bridge if you are unwell, keeping up the hand washing and using the sanitiser provided, scanning the QR code to help with contact tracing. Members who visit/ have visited Auckland or who have visitors from there during their Alert Level 2.5 period are to be particularly careful for a couple of weeks afterwards when coming to bridge.
  • Congratulations to John Roseveare & Neil Sargisson who won the Karori Junior tournament held on Sunday 27 September.
  • There is no Saturday Revision class this Saturday 3 October.
  • We are hosting the annual Hutt/Upper Hutt Challenge this Friday 2 October. Table money is $7 and please bring a plate of food to share. A complimentary drink will be offered after play. Sign up and help us keep the Cup!
  • Tuesday Teams starts 6 October. You must sign up to enter. Sign-up sheet is on the noticeboard. Also, please remember your team must be entered by this Friday 2 October.
  • In preparation for the 2021 programme book can you please check the list on the notices table and confirm that the contact details we have for you are correct or if not, advise of any changes. Please place a tick next to your name if the details are correct. Thank you.
