Notices w/c 12 April 2021

  • Round 2 of Interclub is on this Friday 16 April. See the noticeboard for who you are playing and at which venue.
  • Week 5 of the lessons next Monday 19 April will cover the topic Balanced Hands. All members are welcome to attend.
  • Saturday revision is on this Saturday in the playing room starting at 10:30am.
  • Invitation to Wednesday players: Thursday night is holding a “mix & mingle” evening on 22 April and invite you to come along, with a partner. A light supper will be provided and play starts at 7pm.
  • Our Open/Junior tournaments will be held on Sunday 16 May. Thanks to Gee & Hickton for sponsoring our Open tournament and the Ron Fisher Trust for subsidising the entry fee for the Junior tournament. Note to Juniors the entry fee is $10. Sign up on the noticeboard.
  • Inter-Provincial Trials are on 8-9 May to select the Wellington representative team to go to the 2021 Interprovincial Championship starting 20 November. See the noticeboard for more details.

  • A lovely afternoon was had at the pre-AGM social bridge session on Sunday. Congratulations to Trevor Williams & Margaret Oxnam for achieving the top North/South result and Heather Jared and A.J. for coming top East/West.
  • Thank you to Ryman Healthcare for another delicious spread following our AGM. We welcome two new members to our 2021-2022 committee, Ria Janssen and Margaret Carter, and retain existing members Joan Finley, Kathryn Badcock and Loek Strik. Jill Herman retains the helm as President, Madeleine Askew is the new Vice-President, and Steve Graves, Treasurer.
  • Congratulations to our Interclub teams who had wins last Friday 26 March: Phil Revell’s Open Restricted team, Jeffry Craanen’s Intermediate team, Junior teams Hutt 1 captained by Neil Sargisson and Hutt 3 captained by John Roseveare and Nathan Tucker’s Novice team. The draw for Round 2 of Interclub on Friday 16 April is on the noticeboard. There are three venues for Round 2 with Hutt being one of the hosting clubs. Hutt teams are playing at all three venues. Please check the noticeboard for your venue.
  • Congratulations to John Roseveare and Neil Sargisson who came first at the Upper Hutt Intermediate tournament held on Sunday 28 March.
  • Lessons will take a break next Monday Easter Monday. Week 4 of the lessons will continue on Monday 12 April and will cover the topic Responders New Suit Bids. All members are welcome to attend.
  • Please note there is no bridge this Good Friday or Easter Monday and no Saturday revision class. Have a lovely long weekend.

  • Congratulations to the Junior Interclub team winners of 2020, won by a Hutt team. Congratulations to Neil Sargisson, Jacob Pilalis, and Dianna & Peter Snethlage.
  • Our AGM is this Sunday 28 March at 5:00pm. There is a casual fun bridge afternoon preceding the AGM that starts at 2:45pm. No table money is charged. Drinks and nibbles will follow the AGM with the delicious catering once again being provided by Ryman Healthcare. To confirm numbers please record your attendance or absence on the noticeboard, on 567 1058 or via email.
  • Interclub starts this Friday 26 March. All Hutt teams are playing at Upper Hutt. Just a reminder, there has been an increase in table money in 2021 to $8.
  • Saturday revision is on this Saturday 27 March at 10:30am in the playing room.
  • Upper Hutt Bridge Club are holding an Intermediate & Junior tournament this Sunday 28 March. They need more Junior entries particularly.
  • The topic for lesson 3 next Monday 29 March is Responder’s Limit Bids. All members are welcome to attend.
  • The office will be closed this Friday 26 March.

  • Our AGM is on Sunday 28 March at 5:00pm with a fun bridge session before it starting at 2:45pm. With some long-standing committee members standing down, new members are needed. Nomination forms are on the wall.
  • Interclub starts Friday 26 March and the draw for Round 1 is out. Just a reminder, there has been an increase in table money for Interclub to $8. Please see the noticeboard for your venue.
  • Congratulations to Phil Revell who was placed 2nd in the Open section of the Wellington Sixes tournament held on 6 March 2021.

  • On Sunday 7 March we moved back into Alert Level 1. Please remain vigilant with observing the very familiar health and hygiene requirements. Don’t come to bridge if you are unwell, keep up the hand washing, use the sanitiser provided and scan the QR code to help with contact tracing.
  • Our AGM will be held on Sunday 28 March at 5:00pm. A fun bridge session will be held prior to the AGM starting at 2:45pm. Drinks and nibbles will be provided. All welcome. Please sign up, the form is on the noticeboard. With some long-standing committee members standing down, new members are needed. Nomination forms are on the wall. Talk to a current committee member or Megan to find out more about what is involved.
  • Congratulations to Barbara Scott who was placed second in the Junior section of the Wellington Sixes held on 6 March 2021.
  • Congratulations also to John Roseveare who was placed 3rd in the Junior League in 2020.
  • On Sunday 21 March, Masterton Bridge Club is hosting an Open tournament and Kairangi Bridge Club is hosting an Intermediate/Junior Pairs or Teams tournament.
  • It’s not too late to tell your family and friends about our bridge lessons which start next Monday 15 March and just a reminder that all members are welcome to attend.
  • Tuesday: Entries for Swiss Pairs are now closed. If you are not entered but could be a substitute should someone not be able to attend please add your name to the list on the noticeboard or let Megan know.

  • Just a reminder to those sitting South, you can help speed up play in the room by making your lead or placing dummy on the table before entering details into the bridgemate.
  • Please remember to wear your name tags. We’re encouraging people to play other sessions and it helps people to settle in and feel welcome. If yours is lost, please let Megan know.

  • Our Multigrade tournament is this Sunday 28 February. It is not too late to enter. Entries close this Friday 26 February at 9am.
  • 2021 bridge lessons start Monday 15 March. Pick up a flyer off the table in the foyer and tell your family and friends.
  • Wellington Bridge Club is hosting their Wellington 6’s tournament on 6 March and they need more entries. The tournament is highly regarded as a fun day. It is played in teams of 6 as Swiss Pairs. Players only play others from the same grade and there are individual grade prizes, prizes for best team and prize for the best dressed team.
  • Tuesday Swiss Pairs starts Tuesday 9 March. You must sign up to play. See the noticeboard.
  • Monday and Friday playing committees still only have two members. Please consider stepping up to join the committee. Talk to a current playing committee member or Megan to find out more.
  • Saturday revision is on this Saturday 27 February at 10:30am in the playing room. Want to brush up or have a niggling question answered? All are welcome. The committee has revised its decision to increase the fee and so it will remain the same as last year; that is $5 for members and $10 for non-members.

  • We are now back at Alert Level 1. It is important that we as individuals and as a club remain vigilant about observing the now familiar health and hygiene requirements. These include not coming to bridge if you are unwell, keeping up the hand washing and using the sanitiser provided, as well as scanning the QR code to help with contact tracing.
  • Just a reminder our Multigrade tournament is on Sunday 28 February. We do need some helpers and some more offers of baking. Commitment for helpers is only 1-2 hours. There is a sheet on the notices table.
  • Lessons start Monday 15 March. Please tell family and friends. Flyers are on the notices table.
  • The office is closed Tuesday this week and Megan is working from home.
  • Swiss Pairs starts Tuesday 9 March. You must sign up to play. See the noticeboard.
  • Monday and Friday playing committees currently only have two members. Please consider stepping up to join the committee. Talk to a current playing committee member or Megan to find out more.
  • This is the last week to get your Interclub team together. Interclub teams need to be registered with Megan by 18 February.

Notices w/c 8 February 2020

  • Please note that our carpets and chairs have all been cleaned recently. If you accidentally spill a beverage please do attend to it as soon as possible and clean it up. Handy towels and water are the best way to clean up any spills.
  • Our Multigrade tournament is on Sunday 28 February. Thank you to our sponsor Gee & Hickton for supporting this popular tournament once again. Consider playing with somebody from another grade, particularly a junior or new player. If you are not playing we do require some helpers on the day. Commitment would be 1-2 hours only. And of course we would like some baking. Sign up on the noticeboard or directly on NZBridge website
  • The 2021 annual subscription is now overdue. Please pay as soon as possible.
  • Lessons start Monday 15 March. We have found new players are usually found through family and friends so ask around and see if you know anyone who may be interested. Flyers are on the notices table.
  • The office is closed Tuesday and Wednesday this week and Megan is working from home.
  • The Monday playing committee needs another member to join Louise and Frances. To find out more talk to a current playing committee member or Megan.
  • Martyn is stepping down from the Friday playing committee so we need another member to join Jackie & Therese. Please let a current playing committee member or Megan know if you are interested.
