Notices w/c 9 & 16 Dec 2019

  • Just a reminder that table money for the prize-giving closing session of play is $4. You are welcome to pay by cash or direct debit.
  • Please note we now have a lost property box. This is situated at the North end of the room near the Christmas tree. Please check the box for lost items.
  • The office will be closed from Friday 20 December. Bridge commences Monday 6 January and there will be limited office hours during this week with the office being open Monday and Friday 11am to 1pm. Normal office hours will resume Monday 13 January.
  • Have a fabulous Christmas and a relaxing holiday. See you in January.

Working Bee 2019


The club is holding a “working bee” on Saturday 30 November from 9am to 11am. Tasks will be allocated out on the day. If you are available please add your name to the list on the notices table or ... just pop in on the day :-)

  • We hosted Interclub on Friday night and once again it was a very successful evening. Thank you to Diana Pratchett and Madeleine Askew for their help on the night. Congratulations to Intermediate 1 captained by Simon Webber on their 3rd placing and the Novice team captained by Neil Sargisson on their second placing overall. Also, congratulations to the following teams on their wins: Open 2, Intermediate 2, 3 & 4, and Junior 1 captained by Marian Loader, Jill Herman, Hans Jorgensen and Joan Finley respectively.

  • Congratulations to Dougal Watson & David Don (Karori) who won the Waikanae Intermediate Pairs tournament held on Sunday 10 November.

  • Interclub: The final night of Interclub for 2019 is this Friday 15 November. We are hosting, along with Wellington and Kairangi. See the noticeboard for your venue.
    Diana Pratchett is looking for one person to help her in the kitchen and on the bar. Time commitment would be 8pm to 11pm. Please let Megan in the office know if you can help.

  • Thanks to all who donated items to the garage sale on Saturday 2 November. Also, a big thank you to those who helped with preparation and on the day. $1560 was raised for the club. Items not sold at the garage sale have been donated to 4 local charities.
  • The club is holding a “working bee” on Saturday 30 November from 9am to 11am. Tasks will be allocated out on the day. We will ask for helpers closer to the date.

  • Members are reminded that the outside door will be locked during all bridge sessions. This is to ensure the security and safety of all members and club property. The door can be manually unlocked from the inside when required.

  • Our garage sale is this Saturday 2 November 8:30 to 11:30 at the club. Items can be dropped off this week any time during office hours or when you come in for bridge sessions. Please place directly in the East room.
  • The club is holding a “working bee” on Saturday 30 November from 9am to 11am. Tasks will be allocated out on the day and include cleaning of cupboards, shelves, ovens, sweeping, replacing foam covers on playing tables, clearing paths and general tidying of areas within the club. We will ask for helpers closer to the date.

  • Interclub results from Friday night are on the noticeboard. Congratulations to Novice Hutt 1 (captain Neil Sargisson), Intermediate Hutt 2 (captain Jill Herman), and Intermediate Hutt 3 (captain Kathryn Badcock) on their wins.
  • It’s garage sale time! Saturday 2 November 8:30 to 11:30 at the club. In preparation for this we will be opening the club on Labour Day Monday 25 October from 10am to 12pm to receive any goods that you have sorted through over the weekend. After that you can drop off items any time during office hours or when you come in for bridge sessions. Please place directly in the East room.
  • The Babich NZ Wide Pairs are on Friday 1 November. Venues are Upper Hutt or Wellington.
  • Reminder: next Monday is Labour Day and a holiday from bridge. Have a great long weekend.

  • The Downton Abbey fundraiser on Monday night was a very successful night. Thank you to all who bought tickets or contributed to the evening. Also a big thank you to Bob Scott Retirement Village for providing delicious nibbles and transport. This event raised approximately $1000 for the club.
  • Wed: The next Super Social Sunday is this Sunday 20 October at Wellington Bridge Club from 1pm to 4:30pm. If you have attended beginner classes this year or you do not yet have a certificate of proficiency from NZ Bridge you are very welcome to attend. See the noticeboard for more details.

  • 2019 National Bridge Congress is over for another year. Congratulations to Neil Sargisson & Jacob Pilalis who won the Novice Pairs. Also congratulations to Russell Dive and Russell Wilson (New Plymouth) who won Congress Pairs.
  • Well done to the Hutt players who reclaimed the Challenge Cup against Upper Hutt on Friday night. Congratulations to Elaine Richardson & Jill Marsden who came first for Hutt! Thank you to Upper Hutt for being wonderful hosts.
  • Congratulations to Ellie Boyd who has received a certificate of proficiency from NZ Bridge.
  • Reminder: Please do not park your car in the 3 spots against the wall closest to BR Contractors Ltd. They own these car parks and they have 24 hour access to them.
  • The Downton Abbey fundraiser for next Monday 14 October is now fully booked. Thank you all who have bought tickets. Nibbles are being kindly provided by Bob Scott Retirement Village and will be available from 5:30pm with the movie starting at 6pm.
  • The office will be closed this Thursday 10 October and Friday 11 October.
